Bar Sophia

Bar Sophia is a new Athenian-inspired wine bar and restaurant in Glen Iris, from the team behind Marameo and Il Bacaro. Named for co-owner Michael Badr's wife, the venue brings the energy of contemporary Athens to a warm, 45-seat neighbourhood dining room with a 12-seat front bar. The kitchen runs entirely on a woodfired oven, with head chef Nick Deligiannis producing a seasonal menu of refined Greek cooking, from charred squid and whipped cod roe through to slow-cooked overnight lamb. The wine list is one of the best collections of Greek varieties in Melbourne, complemented by ouzo, tsipouro and grappa. Walk in for a glass at the bar or settle in for the full spread.
